Ballerina Breast Augmentation
Plastic surgery and beauty trends come and go, but one thing is certain: a small breast is always in style. Breast augmentation with a small implant is also known by the trendy term “ballerina breast augmentation,” as it is designed to give women a small, perky breast that will always look beautiful and natural.

How Do I Know Breast Augmentation Is Right for Me?
If you want to change the way your breasts look, then a breast augmentation is likely for you. Ideal breast augmentation candidates in Alpharetta, GA are:
- Generally healthy enough for surgery
- Are at a happy, comfortable, and sustainable weight
- Have a clear vision of their ideal outcome and realistic expectations about what breast augmentation can accomplish
Breast Augmentation Procedure Overview
As soon as you are safely and comfortably asleep, Dr. Farber will begin by making the smallest possible incisions, inserting your implant according to your personalized plan, and then closing your incisions with dissolvable sutures. For every breast augmentation, Dr. Farber uses the “no touch technique,” meaning that she uses a special funnel to ensure that your implant goes from its sterile packaging directly into your body. This technique minimizes the risk of complications, ensuring you have the safest, most reliable result possible.
Dr. Farber has finely tuned her surgical techniques and has the artistic skills and eye for balance that provide beautiful, natural, and predictable results every time. You will go into surgery feeling confident that you are receiving the best care available and that you will get the results of your dreams.
During surgery, Dr. Farber will administer a long-lasting numbing agent to make your recovery more comfortable. She will then place a surgical dressing designed to decrease skin tension, reducing the amount of visible scarring. Before you are discharged, Dr. Farber will fit you with an appropriate surgical bra to support your new breasts.
As soon as your breast augmentation is completed, you will be taken to a private recovery room where you will wake up to friendly faces cheering you on as you get your first glimpse at your new breasts. Before you are released to go home, you will feel excited and supported, knowing that Dr. Farber and her team will be by your side throughout your recovery.

Breast Augmentation FAQs
How do you choose the best profile, style, and implant size for me?
This is my favorite part of the consultation! First, we talk extensively about your goals and review any “wish pics” you may have. Once I have a really good idea of your vision, I do an examination and use your specific measurements to choose a starting point for implant sizing. During the implant sizing, we place various sizers into a sizing bra for you to see. When we settle on a size that makes you smile, I choose a specific implant from the catalog that recreates this same look and fits your body appropriately. All of this together makes both of us feel extra confident that you will be happy with your result!
How do I make sure that I get the size that I want?
We spend lots of time trying on different sizes, and I especially love it when patients bring in several different outfits to try on with their implants. You can take pictures, FaceTime with friends, and come back for as many try-ons as you want until you feel completely confident that you are happy with your size selection. I also think it is really important to focus on a look more than on a size. Cup sizes and number of cc’s are not good indicators of how an implant will look on your body, so I encourage all my patients to be open-minded about the numbers and choose based on how they feel about what they see in the mirror.
What type of breast implant looks and feels the most natural?
A natural look and feel depends on many factors, including implant size, placement, and type. We have many options in each of these categories, as well as the latest implant technology designed to feel most natural. To decide what would be most natural for you, it is important to have a candid discussion about your goals and examination of your unique anatomy.
Will I have cleavage? Can my breast be placed higher on my chest?
Implants are great for creating cleavage and for raising the breast footprint on the chest. We will choose an implant together, depending on how much cleavage and breast height you want. Every single variable of modern breast implants is customizable, so we have countless options for giving you the look you want.
What is the benefit of using the Keller Funnel in the breast augmentation procedure?
A Keller Funnel is a special implant insertion device that allows me to place an implant without touching it. Not allowing the implant to touch my gloves or your skin is the safest way to place an implant and dramatically reduces the risk of complications (which are already very rare).
Do you use the “no touch technique”? What are the benefits of the “no-touch” technique?
I only use the “no touch technique.” This means the implant goes directly from the box into the implant funnel and then into your body without ever touching my gloves or your skin. Implant complications are extremely rare, and this technique makes them even more rare.
When do I need an internal bra or GalaFLEX for Breast augmentation?
I only use an internal bra in cases where patients want to change the position of an existing implant or have another particular concern. With my implant placement technique, my patients have long-lasting results and do not require an internal bra to ensure that their implants will remain in good position. For this reason, unless a patient specifically requests it, I do not normally use mesh or an internal bra in a typical breast augmentation.
How do I know if I will need to combine a breast lift with implants?
We will have a detailed discussion about your goals for surgery to determine whether you need a lift. While an implant adds volume to your breast, a lift will move the nipple and breast tissue to be centered on top of the breast implant. If the position of your nipple and breast on top of the implant is important to you, a lift may be a good idea. If you want to avoid scars and are less concerned with nipple position, a lift is not usually necessary. We will make this decision together after a detailed discussion about what to expect with each option.
Is breast augmentation performed under general anesthesia?
Yes, you will be fully asleep and comfortable for your breast augmentation. You will wake up with new breasts, feeling like it was just the blink of an eye!
Does someone have to stay with me after surgery?
You will need someone responsible to stay with you after surgery to make sure that you are safe and healthy.
Do I need to wear a bra after breast augmentation?
You will need to wear a bra after surgery, which I will provide for you on the surgery day. A bra is important to make sure your implant stays in the right place and your result is long-lasting.
What is recovery like? When can I start exercising or return to work?
You will feel back to yourself in about a week, and you can return to exercise in less than a month. I use a rapid recovery protocol that reduces your pain and your need for narcotics. All of this together gives you a more comfortable recovery without many medication side effects.
Can I still get mammograms after breast implants are placed?
You can absolutely get a mammogram after breast implants are placed. You will simply need to tell the mammogram technician that you have breast implants so that they can obtain the specific views that allow your breast tissue to be seen around the breast implant.
Will I have drains after breast augmentation?
Drains are not necessary after breast augmentation, so I do not place them. You will simply have to wear a surgical bra to provide gentle compression.
Will sutures need to be removed after breast augmentation?
I only place dissolvable sutures underneath the skin. This allows for the easiest recovery and most imperceptible scar.
Will my nipple lose sensation?
You should not have any permanent sensation changes after breast augmentation. Any changes in your nipple sensation after surgery are almost always temporary.
Will I need my breast implants replaced in the future?
Implants do not last forever, and if you are proactive about replacing them approximately every ten years, the replacement surgery will be even easier than the initial breast augmentation. Not only does an implant exchange ensure that you have fresh and healthy implants, but it also gives us an opportunity to adjust size and shape as your body and your goals change with time.
Will there be a scar after breast augmentation?
I make my breast implant incisions as small as I possibly can so that the scars are almost invisible. Plus, the scar is camouflaged nicely in the crease underneath your new, larger breast.
Can an implant break? How do I know if it did?
Implants can rupture, and the best way to prevent this is by having them replaced regularly, about every ten years. All my breast implant patients see me annually so that we can review the latest, most up-to-date technology to make sure your implants are healthy and intact. This currently involves regular ultrasound, which is a noninvasive, inexpensive screening procedure that can easily be combined with mammograms if you need those as well.
